Barbara Klontz, Zumba® Education Specialist and Education Division Coordinator

Barbara began in the Fitness Industry as a Group Exercise Instructor and Personal Trainer in December, 1992. While continuing on in fitness, Barbara achieved a BS in Psychology with a Minor in Physical Anthropology, Anatomy and Primatology. She worked with chimpanzees in Washington state and presented a paper for a Jane Goodall conference. Barbara then continued in the fitness industry as she worked in the health field as an EMT on an ambulance and in a Colorado ER.

Barbara is a trained personal and professional coach and workshop presenter. In 2004, Barbara and her husband moved to the Chicagoland area where Barbara could no longer deny fitness as the field for which she was meant. During her time as a Fitness and Group Exercise Director in the Chicagoland area, Barbara became a trained Zumba® instructor and was fortunate enough to become one of the Zumba® Education Specialists.

Barbara holds group exercise certifications with ACE and AFAA as well as a personal training certification with ACE. Barbara enjoys teaching Zumba® Basics 1 and 2 as well as Zumba® GOLD (Seniors! What a great population to teach!) and Zumba® Toning. She now works full time as a Zumba® Instructor, Education Specialist and Education Division Coordinator.

Debbie Wood, Zumba® Education Specialist

Debbie has been a fitness professional since 1983, beginning her career in Sasolburg, South Africa where she taught aerobics at the rec center on a coal mine. There she received an Associates Degree from the University of Pretoria in Gym Management.   Debbie has also taught various fitness classes in England and now in the Chicago area.

Debbie attended Northwestern University, where she danced with the Northwestern Dance Company.  She has also studied dance at Gus Giordano, Lou Conte, Interlochen, Connecticut College, as well as others.  Debbie has found that Zumba® is the perfect blend of dance and fitness.  She loves that it transcends culture and language barriers, and brings fitness, health and joy to millions of people worldwide.

Debbie is certified with ACE, AFAA, and Physical Mind.  She is a  Physical Mind certified Pilates instructor and an ACE certified personal trainer. Debbie grew up in Wilmette, IL.  She now lives in Deerfield, IL,  has three children, two dogs, one cat, and one husband.

She has been with Zumba® Fitness since 2005. With her business partner, Barbara Klontz, has trained over 2,000 Zumba® instructors in Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin.
